Temenos
Temenos is a different approach to social interaction. For the
most part it is a system, but it can also be focal points on the internet
or physical meeting places. The idea around which Temenos is centered
is fairness. Fairness has far reaching personal and social
consequences, especially relative to social interaction and to
communication. Fairness goes a long way toward minimizing conflict,
promoting trust and facilitating openness.
There is no word that I can find that names the idea and derivatives
that I am working with in this company and on this website.
The closest word that I have found with a similar meaning is an ancient
Greek word, temenos. In my usage, altered from the original, I am
removing the context of being located within a Greek temple and using
just the idea of a secular place for open exploration of ideas. In fact
there might not be any location at all.
The intention is to create insight into production of flexible,
benevolent, creative, and innovative environments. How can we produce
innovative personal mental environments and social team environments for
conceiving and nurturing possibilities for whatever intent? Can we produce
an atmosphere that allows creative exploration even for no preconceived
intent at all? We can improve our mental frameworks to create fair-minded
and open patterns of functionality to replace habits of adversarialism and
conflict. We can certainly work toward those goals by being more attuned
to fairness. This allows the openness necessary for integrative thought
and creativity in any social interaction. Open mindedness is a personally
satisfying first step. Interaction with others of like mind, with
attention to growth and maintenance of social skills is a pleasantly
surprising experience and will allow 'Temenos' to emerge.
In one's own life and with improving rapport with others, Temenos will
facilitate and support creativity, innovation, communication, teamwork and
much more. A commitment to developing one's own mind by discovering
more open and benevolent attitudes, tools, and methodologies of internal
functionality will begin to have an effect. Enthusiasm for exploration
and the thrill of discovery within oneself changes the way life feels.
Anything approaching Temenos during open pursuit of team efforts
is a rare occurrence. Once experienced, it will likely create a desire for
encouragement of recurring occasions. There are many possibilities for
designing social team environments that conceive and nurture exploration of
possibilities with particular or general intent. No preconceived intent at
all other than exploration can be great fun.
There are advantages to both direct personal contact in face to face
discussions and the anonymity of internet minimization of direct association
with questions and possibilities verbalized beyond personal assumptions.
I would like help in creatively exploring both.
Designing your own mind's environment for facilitating original thought
is a critical process if you are a creative personality or choose to
become one. Understanding what you need in order to be creative,
personally and some experience in facilitating those conditions is
necessary for developing the empathy required for creative group
activities. The openness, flexibility, courtesy, curiosity, benevolence, etc.
required by all creative participants makes it immediately obvious that
'Roberts Rules of Order' cannot be the basis of interaction.
The extended complexities of the same integrative and creative
processes developed/developing for groups leads to use of new methods and
standards of structure and interaction. Exploration of these means of
creating flexibility and openness of internal and social integrative
structure is a strong interest of this website and of mine personally.
